Miami Sailing Week, looking forward to racing starting Thursday! 195 one-design sailing boats will compete in three different circles on Biscayne Bay extending on the South side of Miami’s Rickenbacker Causeway. Co-host Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC) coordinates this year’s RC and on the water activities in collaboration with volunteers and members of local Yacht Clubs. Returning for their 4th appearance at MSW is the A-Cat Class with 15 entrants expected to be on the starting line. The A-Cat catamaran is the most actively raced high performance single-handed boat in North America, capable of reaching speeds over 22 knots in 12 knots breeze. Miami Sailing Week is not only for the competition, but also an experimental program promoting sailing and sailing related activities; for this reason all proceeds will be donated to CGSC mission and youth programs. MSW is also appreciative of the effort put forth by Coconut Groves’ BID that is dedicated to protect and enhance this beautiful neighborhood. More information on Miami Sailing Week and Coconut Grove Sailing Club is available at www.MiamiSailingWeek.com and www.cgsc.org ... See more
